What Is Quick Dry Screeding?
Quick dry screeding is a modern flooring solution that uses advanced screed formulations to dramatically reduce drying times compared to traditional sand and cement screeds. In many cases, floor coverings can be installed within 24 to 72 hours, depending on site conditions and screed type.
This makes quick dry screeding a popular choice across Newcastle and the North East, particularly for projects working to tight deadlines or phased construction schedules.
Our Quick Dry Screeding Process
LC Screeding follows a proven, professional process to ensure excellent results on every project:
1. Subfloor Preparation
We thoroughly prepare the existing subfloor by removing dust, debris, and contaminants. Where required, we install damp proof membranes, insulation, or underfloor heating systems to meet project specifications.
2. Priming and Bonding
A specialist primer is applied to promote strong adhesion between the substrate and screed. This helps prevent cracking, curling, or debonding over time.
3. Screed Application
Our quick dry screed is mixed to manufacturer guidelines and expertly applied using precision tools. The screed is levelled to achieve a smooth, even surface that meets British Standards for floor finishes.
4. Rapid Drying and Curing
Thanks to its fast-drying properties, the screed cures quickly, allowing early foot traffic and faster installation of tiles, vinyl, laminate, carpet, or resin flooring.
Benefits of Quick Dry Screeding
Choosing quick dry screeding in Newcastle offers several key advantages:
Faster Project Completion
Reduced drying times allow follow-on trades to begin sooner, keeping projects on schedule and reducing downtime.
Ideal for Underfloor Heating
Quick dry screeds are highly compatible with underfloor heating systems, offering excellent heat transfer and allowing earlier system commissioning.
High Strength and Durability
Despite the rapid curing time, quick dry screeds provide outstanding strength and durability, suitable for both domestic and high-traffic commercial environments.
Lower Moisture Levels
Reduced residual moisture minimises the risk of floor covering failure, ensuring a long-lasting and professional finish.
